Retailers use third party services to improve product pages
It’s good to see so many retailers improving their product pages by adding user generated content and rich media. Jakob Nielsen reckons that 10% of customer failures (ie where the customer gives up and leaves your site) are caused by a lack of product information, so it pays to spend time considering how yours can be improved.
Some retailers are also using third party services - Comet and Currys have both been using Reevoo’s independent product review service for some time. See an example here.
And Amazon is using the Meet The Author service, which provides a library of video clips of authors talking about their books. I tried to find an example of an extremely intelligent tome on the merits of multi-variant testing in online retail, but sadly mine betrays my interest in footballers' wives - watch it here.
It’ll be interesting to see what other services become available.
