I know that many retailers have separate sites for different countries but if I was Canadian I’d be a bit offended by canada.zappos.com.
While drooling over a pair of Steve Madden black suede boots, I noticed a link to Zappos Canada. I clicked on it and what I saw shocked me to the core! It was like something from circa 1999! The most glaring issues I think are:
- much poorer navigation than on the US site
- cartoony images
- variations on their usual fonts
I literally couldn’t believe I was still on Zappos property – it had none of fun of the Zappos US site and certainly none of the funky widgets like Zappos map.
It really begs the question: why has Zappos built this Canadian version and not just added a multi-currency option to the standard site? Are Canadians not worthy of good styling, up-to-date design and fun widgets?

I agree with the above comment, AND I found that when I went to zappoos Canada
EVERY price was in US dollars. What gives? Canada has it’s own dollars. If this is supposed to be a Canadian site, show the price in Canadian dollars!!
Zappos Canada is an insult to Canadians. I’ve had a terrible shopping experience with them. They do not have the free shipping and return shipping that customers in the US enjoy. Even though they offer $10 flat shipping fee, they do not mention the high import fees up front and there is even a $15 “restocking fee” for each item that you return. So if the shoes don’t fit, it’s really not worth the hassle to return them. Even worse, the site hasn’t been updated in YEARS. It’s still featuring the same old styles and it doesn’t even have a lot of the shoe brands that the US site has. It feels to me like they are just trying to get rid of the overstock from their US warehouse. They are definitely a big failure in my eyes.
Just wanted to add a quick update. To add insult to injury Zappos have now done a complete redesign of their US site and have not bothered to even look at the Canadian site!
Zappos please either put some love into your Canadian site and update it or close down this insult to ecommerce.
