How Majestic Wine is using online merchandising

The e-commerce team from Majestic Wine came by to Snow Valley Towers on Wednesday. They came to host one of our SnowBrainer lunchtime learning sessions, and a fantastic session it was too.
We implemented Omniture Merchandising (or Mercado as it was then known) on the Majestic website last year. They gave us a demonstration on how [...]

ASDA till receipt/website integration – it worked!

The other day I posted about ASDA’s new web feature, where a customer can tap in the details of their till receipt and the items that they bought instore appear in their online Favourites list.
I can now tell you that we have put it to the test – and it seems to have worked. My colleague Jill’s very [...]

ASDA – good example of multi-channel integration

This new feature on the ASDA grocery site has impressed us all at Snow Valley Towers.
Customers can now create an online shopping list by using a till receipt from an offline purchase. By typing in the store number, the operator number, the till number, the transaction number, and the date and time of the order, [...]

44% of shoppers like to see ‘items you looked at last time’

Does your site show customers a list of items that they looked at during their last visit? According to a report from Shop.org in the US, 44% of online shoppers think it’s a helpful feature.
I have to say though, it’s not something I come across very often on UK online stores. Of the retailers on [...]

TopShop – nice visual merchandising for t-shirts

I really like this little Tee Shop idea on TopShop.com. The customer can view all the different styles visually on one page, and see which colours are available for each one. It engages the customer and it showcases the range of t-shirts much better than a list of words.
This would definitely work on all types [...]

How retailers are using online communities part 8 – ASDA

YourAsda is the latest online community from a UK retailer. It’s not the most interactive community I’ve ever seen. At the moment it’s mainly blog-type posts on various subjects to do with ASDA, saving money, or “so just what does happen to the ugly carrots?”.
Users can comment on blog posts but there’s no forum – if [...]

Email of the Week – Waitrose

This week’s email of the week comes from Waitrose. It’s a nice eye-catching email with a good subject line, but the offer is what I really liked.
We might all be regretting it now, but the big trend this year has been for families to holiday at home in the UK. Waitrose has cleverly picked up on [...]

How retailers are using online communities part 7 – Waitrose

Waitrose.com was one of the first UK retail websites to add any online community elements, and so I was expecting to see good things on there when I set out to review it. However, I have to say that I found it confusing and difficult to use, especially when compared to some of the newer [...]

Email of the Week – eSpares

This week’s Email of the Week comes from eSpares. What I like about this email is that eSpares are not going for the hard sell, they are using their e-mails to push themselves as a source of knowledge to encourage customer loyalty through their online video help centre.
While the subject line of the email leaves [...]
